Bodice and Sleeves

Boning: a Still Life

This is the mock-up of the bodice. Materials: spiral boning from Lacis, craft tweezers, boning caps (also from Lacis--so that sharp metal edges don't poke through the fabric), millinery glue (to glue the boning caps on), and bolt cutters. This is the first sewing project I've ever undertaken that required a power drill (for the hoop boning) and bolt cutters.

Bodice w/ front trim. I've cheated and glued the trim down (I love my millinery glue), but eventually I will break down and hand-sew all the litte lace points.

Undersleeve: the loops at the bottom are to button it shut;
the ribbons are to tie it into the armhole beneath the oversleeve
7/8" buttons for sleeves

You wouldn't think this could be a sleeve,
would you?

You'd think this was finished, but no...there are still the partlet, the sleeves, the ruff, the attifet, the jewelry...not to mention the hemming and endless handsewing that still need to be done. The bodice still needs some fitting adjustments, too.
