Here I am in just the farthingale and bumroll. And here's the back of the farthingale/bumroll combinations.

 

Here's the kirtle over the farthingale without the bumroll. You can see that the bumroll is really necessary to make that first tier of the farthingale lay right under the skirt. Not a great picture, but you'll notice that when I added the bumroll the problem with the lumpy top tier did mostly go away.

This is what the skirt will look like when it's finished and draped over the forepart. Trim and fabric detail--that wide band of trim (between the two narrow ones) is from my wedding gown.
